This is a really powerful piece! Many people tend to focus so much on shape and composition, that sometimes its very refreshing to see something aside from the classic pony "poses" which have been done endlessly at this point. Deviating from that takes great forsight I believe.
The use of colour here is simply breathtaking, even if you step back and look at it from afar, the flowing nature of the lines combined with the melding of aqua blues and purples leaves a feeling if peace and retrospect in and of itself.
The facial expression is positioned perfectly, and whilst being simple enough to not dominate the rest of the image, compliments it very nicely. In terms of technique, the watercolour textures and not-fully-blended strokes really work together to make the piece not look flat. I can really perceive depth as i look at the mane going from infront of the right wing to behind the head. A couple of nice subtle features, the sparkles (always sparkles!) add life to the picture, the slight abberation of the lines for the body, on the wings etc, again adds texture, i like that. Lastly the use of white outlines and black under-shading on the charcters and "stickers" very much helps separate them, but you have done it without it being obvious at first sight, a difficult balance!
Overall I love the message behind this, the only reason originality is not 5 star, is partially because regular poses and expressions like this have already been done, but mainly that it is relative to the fantastic technique, and brilliant vision/foresight required to create this! This isn't just "drawing ponies", this is proper *artwork* in my book! Brilliant skill, vision, and message, conveying emotion and being a standard for pleasing aesthetics!
