For starters, the lighting in this picture is very well done. I love the way the coat blends into a darker color as it moves towards the left, indicating how much light the sun is giving off. Even subtler details like the mane covering her left eye in shadow are pretty clever. I also love the way in which you drew this mare’s happy face. She’s clearly enjoying the sun setting on the beach and as a result, we can feel content along with her. Now I do have some criticisms to make. Firstly, the clouds could be drawn to look like they’re a cohesive whole, as opposed to looking like a bunch of separate dashes. Second, While the sunset is, for the most part, pretty to look at, the colors could be blended better in order to give off a stronger feeling of tranquility. Lastly, but not least, it could be expanded. For example, in the background, you drew footprints, indicating the mare has been walking on the beach. I would love to see how far she’s been walking, and where her starting point may have been. It would better draw me into the environment, and help me get a better sense of what the atmosphere is like. Other than that, this drawing is pretty solid. It has a relaxing vibe, and it makes me crack a smile. I sure EmbersLament is more than proud of the finishing product! Keep up the great work, Segraece!
